Tax team continues to expand

As a firm we have faced up to the challenges of working through a global pandemic primarily by having a strong team supporting us, and though our management, by realising the individual and personal challenges that every team member has experienced and helping them adapt.

The relative ease by which we were able to transition to working from home, almost overnight, was attributable to the strength of our IT infrastructure, which is planned, provided and maintained by our own IT advisory subsidiary, bennettbrooks IT.  This has mean that as a practice we have been able to provide continuous high quality and timely advice to our clients throughout the pandemic.

During this period our tax and payroll team has focused its efforts on supporting clients, and what a financially challenging period it has been for us all (on both business and personal levels). From the government’s rapid introduction of (and ever-changing) furlough rules, to providing ongoing support and advice on the endless and varied queries that our wide-ranging client base face, we have been there.

Every clients’ experience of the past year has been different, and even during this period of uncertainty, company transactions, business successions, acquisitions, retirements, and other life changing events continue, and so we know that proactive and timely taxation advice is more important now than ever.

Across the practice we have also continued to recruit more resource in order to maintain that service, with 16 new additions joining us since last March.

It is against this backdrop that we are pleased that we have been able to further strengthen our already strong and experienced tax team, with three key recruits:

We have a new tax director, James Amos to help provide the higher-level complex advice.  Anthony Whittaker is a private client STEP qualified senior manager with 15 years expertise in trust and IHT planning, and last but not lease, Alexandra Hyde joins us as  a VAT advisor with 18 years VAT experience.

As tax becomes ever more complex, it is certain that we will see significant tax changes over the coming years and so having access to specialist expertise becomes increasingly important. We are delighted that we have been able to recruit these additions and welcome them to the business, this will ensure we continue to provide our clients with the best possible advice in these challenging times.
