About the role
As Trainee Accountant, you will learn and carry out the following duties:
- Preparation of accounts from client’s prime records to a draft stage using accounting software
- Drafting business tax computations and preparing draft CT600s
- Bookkeeping for clients using spreadsheets or cloud accounting software such as Sage, Xero and QuickBooks
- Preparation and submission of VAT returns
- Answering client phone calls / emails and helping with queries
- Time management and prioritising urgent work
- Complete timesheets on a daily basis
- Develop and apply technical knowledge gained from studies and on the job experience
- Build and maintain professional working relationships with clients and other members of staff
- Any other duties commensurate with the role
Requirements
Whilst no accountancy experience is required, applicants should satisfy the following:
- GCSE in Maths and English (grade B or above)
- Good IT skills; MS Office Suite and able to pick up new software quickly
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good attention to detail
- Self-motivated
- Enjoy working as a team
- Organised and able to meet deadlines

Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday
