Altrincham vs Cancer 2025

The Altrincham VS Cancer fundraising campaign is aiming to raise £15,000 for the Christie Charity.  Individuals from local businesses in Altrincham are joining together to undertake a series of running challenges in February to achieve the target.

Client Director Luke Bembridge and Consultant Tony Collier from our Altrincham office  will be taking part in the event on the 27th February at The Gym Group in Altrincham where participants are sponsored to take to the treadmills to run 5km each.

Tony has been heavily involved in the Altrincham business community for all his working life and he is delighted to see the Altrincham business community come together for Altrincham Vs Cancer to raise funds for The Christie.

Tony explains more about his involvement.

“My personal circumstances add to my motivation to raise funds for The Christie. In May 2017, aged 60, I was told that I had incurable prostate cancer, and was given a worst case prognosis of 2 years. The Christie is where I am being treated and I’m very grateful for everything they do to prolong my life and maintain a decent quality of life. I’ve been helped by The Christie charity with complimentary therapies provided at no cost, that have had a really positive affect on me and helped me to take control of my cancer rather than be controlled by it.  They also fund cancer research that could extend my life and help me see more of my grandchildren as they grow up”.

Luke explains why he is running to raise money for the Christie.

“I’ve worked in Altrincham for the last 10 years and worked closely with Tony when he was diagnosed and I know how much The Christie has helped and supported him. I lost my uncle (my Mum’s twin brother) last year to cancer at the age of 65. He was fit and healthy and loved running but unfortunately lost his battle in less than 12 months. Having seen the impact of the disease on him and the family, I really want to support the local community in raising much needed funds for an amazing charity that helps fund life changing services”.
