Senior Manager - Leek

Bennett Brooks Chartered Accountants, a successful and established accounting practice, are seeking an experienced, Senior Manager to join our very busy team based in Leek on a full time basis.

Reporting to the Associate Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the overall service delivery for the office, ensuring that workflow is delivered promptly by the team, billing targets are met and efficiencies are monitored.  You will have strong technical competence to ensure that work is compliant and team skills are maintained.

You will be ACA/ACCA qualified with at least 5 years post qualified experience working in a practice environment with a full UK driving licence.

This role would suit a candidate who is looking for a hands-on, client facing role with a dynamic and growing accountancy practice, with opportunities to develop and progress within the firm.

Purpose of the role:

The main purpose of the role is to provide professional financial advice and exceptional service to our clients, which comprise mainly of small owner managed businesses, with some larger companies. You will also have significant involvement in managing the workflow of the team. 

Practice Accountant role, duties and responsibilities

  • Managing a team to deliver accountancy services
  • Managing a portfolio of clients
  • Tracking job progress and billing targets
  • Monitoring deadlines
  • Preparation of accounts for limited companies
  • Preparation of corporation tax and personal tax computations and returns
  • Building a positive working relationship with clients and the practice
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations 
  • Use of computer software including IRIS, Sage, Xero and Quickbooks
  • Ensuring work is completed to a high standard and on time
  • Dealing with any client queries in a timely and efficient manner
  • Assisting colleagues and trainees within the team with development and technical advice
  • Undertake such other duties that are required commensurate with the role

The ideal candidate:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA) with at least 5 years post qualified experience in a practice environment 
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and able to successfully communicate with people at all levels, both financial and non-financial 
  • Excellent reporting skills
  • Confidently able to offer recommendations and advice to our clients.
  • Highly competent with outstanding commercial acumen and a solid grasp of business aims and objectives
  • Demonstrable experience and a proven track record in a similar role
  • A full UK driving licence is essential

Payroll Senior  – Northwich - (posted 2/9/21)

We are seeking to recruit an experienced Payroll Senior to join us on a full-time basis at our Northwich office reporting to the Associate Director as part of the Personal Tax and Payroll team.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • The primary function of this role is to independently ensure the accurate and timely delivery of client payroll services.
  • Responsible for end to end payroll processing and Auto Enrolment compliance in line with client specific requirements.
  • Control and process a full payroll portfolio and maintain a good working relationship with all clients.
  • Maintain good working relationships through effective communication with clients, offices, HMRC and other third-party providers.
  • Keep up to date with all legislation and industry changes through independent research.
  • Work collaboratively within the payroll team and wider payroll group within bennettbrooks.
  • Know and adhere to service level agreements to ensure a consistent and efficient payroll service is delivered to clients and offices within bennettbrooks.
  • Actively seek to solve payroll related and customer service issues.

Skills & Experience

  • CIPP qualified or equivalent
  • Payroll bureau experience is preferred
  • In depth understanding of payroll legislation, processing and Auto Enrolment regulations.
  • Ability to manually calculate a payroll.
  • In depth understanding of Sage 50cloud payroll software is essential
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
  • Ability to work within a team environment and own initiative.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • A positive and proactive approach to the various roles the job entails.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft products.
