Corporate Tax Senior (6mth FTC) Northwich, Cheshire 

 bennettbrooks Chartered Accountants, a successful and established North West firm, are seeking to recruit an experienced Corporate Tax Senior to join us on a temporary basis for a period of 6 months. The role will be based at our Northwich office, reporting to the Associate Tax Director, as part of the existing corporate tax team of 4 


The successful candidate will have experience of working with a portfolio of corporate tax clients advising them on tax matters, or, currently be operating as an ambitious general practitioner looking to get into tax. The ideal candidate will be studying towards, or CTA/ATT/ACCA/ACA qualified. This role requires someone that is driven, proactive and possesses excellent communication skills. 


Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Assist with the delivery of tax advisory & compliance work arising from portfolio. 

  • Assist with corporation tax reviews  

  • The practice has a large R&D advisory portfolio and experience in this area would be an advantage 

  • Advising companies of their tax liabilities and payment deadlines. 

  • Managing HMRC enquiries on behalf of clients. 

  • Building relationships both within the firm and externally with clients, providing high levels of client service at all times. 

  • Contributing to the efficient and successful delivery of tax services to the client. 

  • Support the Tax Director/Corporate Tax team with any ad-hoc projects and duties commensurate with the role. 


Skills and Experience 

  • Preferably CTA, AAT, ACA, ACCA qualified or equivalent. 

  • Have at least 2/3 years' relevant but varied tax experience. 

  • Confident, self-motivated, well-organised individual with excellent communication skills.  

  • Experience of preparation and review of tax computations/returns and tax accounting workings 

  • Strong technical skills and keen to develop further. 

  • Experience of dealing confidently with a variety of business clients.

Leek, Staffordshire 

Fearns Marriott, is a subsidiary of bennettbrooks, Chartered Accountants and we are seeking to recruit an experienced and ambitious Portfolio Manager/Accountant to join our busy and growing Leek team on a full-time or nearly full-time basis. 

Working as an Accountant, the successful individual will undertake a varied role with excellent scope for development. You will have the opportunity to gain responsibility for your own portfolio of clients primarily within the agricultural sector.  

The workload will be varied with this is being very much a general practice role. It will primarily consist of the preparation and review of both year-end accounts and tax returns whilst also involving some management accounts preparation. 

Aside from the day to day compliance focused activities, you will have the opportunity to act as an advisor to your clients, working closely with the Associate Director to assist them in achieving growth targets. 

Client interaction will be a key facet of this role so excellent communication skills as well as a confident, professional and personable manner are essential. 

The successful candidate will have excellent experience of working in a varied general practice position including Accounts preparation and Tax compliance work. Candidates who are either ACA / ACCA Qualified or Part Qualified will both be considered. Study support will be available to those individuals who are yet to complete their studies.

Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Preparation of accounts for clients within the agricultural sector 
    Assistance with business advisory work 

  • Taking incomplete records to final account production with minimal supervision  

  • Completing monthly management accounts and quarterly VAT returns 

  • Basic self-assessment tax return preparation 
    Undertaking basic tax research under supervision 
    Assistance with tax planning and advisory work 
    Dealing with HMRC correspondence 

  • Building a positive working relationship with clients and the practice 

  • Dealing with any client queries in a timely and efficient manner 

  • Assisting junior colleagues and trainees within the team 

  • Undertake such other duties that are required commensurate with the role 



  • ACA / ACCA Qualified or Part Qualified 

  • Experience of supervising / reviewing work completed by junior staff would be beneficial 

  • Experience of working with clients from agricultural sector preferred
