Senior Accountant - Manager

Based at our Northwich office, you will be assisting the Head of Small Business and managers within the department, with a varied portfolio of small business clients.

The ideal candidate will be ACA/ACCA qualified with a minimum of 3 years’ experience working with small businesses in an accounting practice.

They will be keen to work within a busy team and enjoy client interaction.

A full UK driving licence will be required.

The role will involve:-

  • Preparation and review of accounts for sole traders, partnerships, limited companies and charities
  • Completing monthly bookkeeping and quarterly VAT returns.
  • Use of computer software including IRIS, Sage, Xero and Quickbooks
  • Preparation of income tax and corporation tax computations and returns.
  • Assistance with the preparation and filing of Construction Industry Scheme returns.
  • Assisting trainee accountants within the team.
  • Ensuring work is completed to a high standard and on time.
  • Dealing with client queries and building ongoing client relationships.
  • Other ad-hoc assignments as assigned by the Head of Small Business.
  • Ensuring that adequately trained and experienced staff are allocated to assignments to ensure that work is completed as cost effectively as possible.
  • Ensuring that clients’ work is dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring communication within the management team is effective and efficient in order to achieve the firm’s goals.

There are opportunities within the role to work towards increasing your own portfolio of clients and building/developing client relationships.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary/Benefits 

  • Up to £35,000 plus bonus (Dependent on experience)
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays and an additional 3 days to be taken during the Christmas shutdown.

Audit Senior / Assistant Manager

Based out of our Northwich, Cheshire office we are looking for a qualified Audit Senior/Assistant Manager who will work servicing a portfolio of business clients with a positive, enthusiastic, professional attitude. This is a unique opportunity to combine an audit and transaction services role, working on IPOs, due diligence and IFRS conversion work.

The role will involve:

  • Involvement in transaction services, company side IPO preparation work, IFRS conversions

Person Specification

  • Fully ACA/ACCA Qualified 
  • Experience of Audit
  • Knowledge of CCH Pro Audit or similar software package would be advantageous
  • Extensive experience with excel and word
  • Driving licence / own transport

Graduate Trainee Accountant

We are now looking for trainees for our 2019 Graduate Programme if you have a 2.1 or higher degree in Accountancy, Business and Finance, Economics or another business related degree please submit your CV and letter.

As a trainee you will be placed in one of our Audit, Corporate Finance or Accounts teams, where you will receive training in different aspects of accountancy e.g. statutory accounts preparation, auditing, solicitor’s compliance and assurance services, taxation and receive a variety of finance related assignments.

Based out of our Northwich office, you will work in and around the North West of England with some assignments in other parts of the country. Your own means of transport is therefore required.

At Bennett Brooks we take our training seriously and provide premier college training for the ACA qualification, with a three year training contract.

As well as our graduate salary, and you will also receive 31 days holiday (including bank holidays), in addition to study leave.

Assisting the Chester Office managers in growing a varied portfolio of business clients you will be supporting a team of qualified staff. 

No formal qualifications are required, but it is essential you have experience of working within practice and will be keen to work within a busy team and enjoy client interaction.

This role would suit a candidate who is looking for a hands-on role in a growing accountancy practice. 

Requirements: 

  • AAT qualified would be beneficial but not essential
  • Experience of working within an accounting practice

The role will involve:

  • Preparation of accounts for sole traders, partnerships, limited companies and charities.

Assisting the Chester Office Director in growing a varied cloud-based portfolio of business clients you will be at the forefront of developing our cloud-based accountancy offering. 

You will be ACA/ACCA qualified with a minimum of 2 years’ experience working within practice and will be keen to work within a busy team and enjoy client interaction.

This role would suit a candidate who is looking for a hands-on client facing role in a growing cloud-based accountancy practice. 

A successful candidate will have the following skills and experiences:

Looking for a self-starter with good technical skills along with excellent client skills and a positive attitude to help grow a new area for our business, in particular:

Technical Skills

  • ACA or ACCA qualified, 2-5 years PQE
  • The ability to complete accounts preparation assignments through to partner review stage using a range of software tools
  • A good level of understanding of FRS102 including Section 1A
  • Working knowledge of IRIS would be essential
  • Excellent or developing knowledge of, and a passion for, Xero, QuickBooks, other cloud accounting apps and tools and cloud-based payment systems would also be essential
  • Experience of “Xero App Advisory” projects desirable
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel

Other skills

  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Excellent organisational skills to manage large portfolio of clients and non-chargeable activities
  • Eye for detail and high level of accuracy
  • The ability to manage a small team of accountants, this will include reviewing their work, training and supervising
  • Willingness, experience and confidence to train clients how to use the cloud software on a one to one/small group basis and also in seminar format
  • Experience giving advice to clients relevant to level of experience
  • Networking experience desirable

Strong, confident communicator with directors and otherwise excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) are essential to the role.

Role: Full Time

Salary: £40,000.00 to £45,000 depending on experience
