Portfolio Manager  – Northwich - (posted 24/11/21)

Our very busy small business team based in Northwichare are seeking an experienced, qualified Portfolio Manager to join them on a full time basis.

Reporting to the Associate Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients and will be at the forefront of developing our accountancy service offering.

You will be ACA/ACCA qualified with 3 years post qualified experience working in a practice environment with a full UK driving licence.

This role would suit a candidate who is looking for a hands-on, client facing role with a dynamic and growing accountancy practice.

Purpose of the role:

The main purpose of the role is to provide professional financial advice and exceptional service to our clients. You will also have significant involvement in assigning and reviewing draft accounts prepared by the trainee accountants within the team.

Practice Accountant role, duties and responsibilities

  • Servicing a portfolio of clients
  • Tracking job progress and billing targets
  • Monitoring deadlines
  • Preparation of accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
  • Preparation of corporation tax computations and returns
  • Building a positive working relationship with clients and the practice
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations
  • Use of computer software including IRIS, Sage, Xero and Quickbooks
  • Ensuring work is completed to a high standard and on time
  • Dealing with any client queries in a timely and efficient manner
  • Assisting colleagues and trainees within the team with development and technical advice
  • Undertake such other duties that are required commensurate with the role
  • Completing self assessment tax returns

The ideal candidate:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA) with 3 years post qualified experience in a practice environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and able to successfully communicate with people at all levels, both financial and non-financial
  • Excellent reporting skills
  • Confidently able to offer recommendations and advice to our clients.
  • Highly competent with outstanding commercial acumen and a solid grasp of business aims and objectives
  • Demonstrable experience and a proven track record in a similar role
  • A full UK driving licence is essential

Assistant Accountant - (posted 24/11/21)

We are recruiting for an Assistant Accountant as part of their internal Administration Department the role is full time, Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours per week.

Based at our Head Office in Northwich, Cheshire the admin team monitor the internal finances of the business delivering management information and providing administrative support for portfolio directors and offices across the group.

Your duties and responsibilities (not limited to):

  • Provide support for the Director of Admin across a range of financial tasks including Treasury, Credit Control, Reconciliation, Billing
  • Reviewing customer(client) account balances and prompting them for payment of overdue invoices and raising issues re problem accounts with the Director of Admin and in conjunction with the wider Credit Control team.
  • Dealing with client queries re providing copy invoices and reconciling statements.
  • Diarising and monitoring payment promises and following up on all actions in conjunction with the client directors.
  • Process sales invoices, matching and processing receipts, payments using account-based software.
  • Resolving queries raised on invoices by liaising with the client and portfolio directors
  • Taking client payments
  • Reconciling bank accounts.
  • Treasury support and the management of payments through our client accounts.
  • Dealing with financial paperwork and filing.
  • Answer incoming calls for the business, providing information, transferring calls and/or taking messages as necessary - providing a best-in-class customer experience
  • Dealing with incoming mail
  • Ledger Reconciliations
  • Preparation and posting of journals including accruals, prepayments, and depreciation
  • Reconciliation of bank, cash, credit card and control accounts (plus BACs authorisations)
  • Dealing with the input authorisation and settlement of invoices and expenses

Qualifications, skills and experience:

  • AAT qualified or studying towards
  • Bookkeeping experience
  • Dealing with clients face to face
  • Experienced in Sales Ledger/Purchase Ledger/Nominal Ledger
  • Able to take accounts to trial balance stage
  • Processing and submitting VAT returns
  • Proficient in Xero, Sage 50 and Microsoft packages – especially Excel
  • Knowledge of Receipt Bank would be an advantage
  • A full UK driving licence is essential

Reporting to the Director, the successful candidate will be ACA/ACCA qualified with 3 – 5 years’ post qualified experience working in a practice environment with a full UK driving licence.

This role would suit a candidate who is looking for a hands-on, client facing role with a dynamic and growing accountancy practice, with opportunities to develop and progress within the firm.
