Discretionary Grant Schemes: Cheshire West and Chester: Closing 1 June 2020, Manchester: Announcing week of 25 May 2020

On Monday 18 May 2020 Cheshire West and Chester Council launched its discretionary business grant scheme following the Government’s announcement of additional funding on 1 May. The window to apply online to the Local Authority Discretionary Grants Fund is open for two weeks from 18 May to 1 June.

The new fund, which offers grants of £25,000; £10,000; or up to £10,000, is aimed at small businesses that can demonstrate they have suffered a significant fall in income because of the COVID-19 crisis, those that have relatively high ongoing fixed property-related costs and occupy property, or part of a property, with a rateable value or annual rent or annual mortgage payments below £51,000 but are outside the scope of the existing small business grants scheme and retail, hospitality and leisure scheme.

For full details of the Cheshire West and Chester Local Authority Discretionary Grants Fund and to apply visit the Council's website.

We are aware of a similar discretionary grant scheme in Manchester which will be announced in full early next week. For other areas, please continue to check with your local authority, as further top up grant schemes may well be launched in the coming weeks.
