Wirral & Chester Business Fair
November 15, 2011
We had a great time at The Floral Pavillion, New Brighton last Wednesday morning, for our second year at the Wirral and Chester Business Fair. The setup was much improved on 2010 in that each company had their own “market stall” area.
We were the only accountants with a stand and we brought a bit of fun to the event as we went armed with a large flat screen TV and a Nintendo Wii, inviting all passers by to try their luck at “Duck Hunt” with the Wii rifle. Each passer buy won a branded bb duck for participating with a Nintendo Wii for the winner.
We certainly drew the crowds in and even the Mayoress was sorely tempted, but had to decline on the basis that it may be deemed politically incorrect for her to be photographed holding a rifle !
It has to be said, the ducks went down an absolute storm. Everyone was talking about them. In addition to some of the big kids who were wandering around that day, everyone who had children, grandchildren or godchildren were asking for them. A Brownie pack leader took 30 for a local event which they were running, saying that we could be their sponsors. The Pastor of St Barnabas’ Church in Liverpool was relaunching a campaign following the safe recovery of their Yellow Submarine and asked if he could use our ducks for the event. Keep watching Granada Reports, you never know!
We met lots of great people, chatting about their businesses and how we could help them, and generally it was far busier than we anticipated. We spoke to a wide range of people who were either new start ups or had only been trading a very short time, to a company where the in-house accountant had recently left. We had particular interest from many parties ranging from an Events Organiser to the owner of a garage in Birkenhead.
We felt exhausted by the end, but it had been a really worthwhile and productive day as we got talk to and help lots of different people. Hopefully they will come and talk to us again at our offices in Bromborough.
